Yoda

Hi Christopher,I just wanted you to know that Yoda is settling in so nicely and so far doesn't mind riding in a car. He is EVERYTHING that I wanted my puppy to be--sweet, smart (he has learned to sit already!!), playful, adoring, so friendly with strangers, loves to be touched (will work out well for his therapy job later on). Yoda's learned to use a soft mouth when biting (I did the Victoria Stillwell "aieeee" sound when he would bite hard...and it worked in no time.) I must say that puppyhood brings back memories of being a new mama--it's both exhausting and so rewarding. When he's all tuckered out and sleeping, it melts my heart!! I cannot believe my good fortune!! Thank you thank you thank you for this amazing little guy!!!I took Yoda to the vet on Wednesday, and she fell in love with him of course. He looks perfectly healthy and his stool came back normal. The vet weighed him on a bird scale and he didn't seem centered on it nor sit still, but he weighed 1600 g which converted to 3.5 lbs. Does that seem about right to you for his age? You had projected his adult weight at 6-6.5 lbs. The vet is conservative with shots so he won't get his 4th shot until 14 weeks and his rabies until 9/2. She told me not to take him outside until he's had his 4th shot just to be safe. Then we'll start potty training outside. She also didn't start him on Frontline but will when I go back for his shot on 8/5. When Yoda is 6 months old, I'll get him neutered and microchipped at the same time.On Wednesday, we start puppy kindergarten with 5 other puppies. It should be fun. Oh, that reminds me...I forgot to ask about his socialization thus far, and I'm wondering how he'll do with other dogs. How many littermates does Yoda have (I remember you mentioned one going to your friends in FL) and were they housed together for play, eating, and sleeping until you started crating him? Did he also get to play with the other boy and girl puppy you were selling at the same time on your site? The pish pads are working out great, except that my boy is a digger and likes to pull up the corners and then wrestle with them. I'm redirecting for now with toys and if he gets too wound up, he goes in his crate until he settles down. When he cries and barks when I leave the room, I ignore it as you instructed so he won't learn crying and barking = mommy's attention. Makes perfect sense and works. Also attached is a pic of Yoda waiting his turn at the vet's office. He is so stinkin' cute!!One last question: What shampoo did you use on Yoda? He smelled sooooo good!!Warm regards,Cindy and YodaPS Hope all went well at the show this weekend!!
